Donation of Medical Supplies and Equipment to Ghapan Hospital
        With the generosity of the Los Angeles/Hollywood Kaiser Hospital, Ghapan hospital received numerous quantities of medical supplies and necessities in September of 2006.


Second Annual Gift Drive
        The Second Annual Gift Drive took place in September of 2006, with an increase of 200 pre-school aged children and 9 more villages along with the city of Ghapan totaling the number to 1500. Children received various gifts such as educational toys, books, school supplies and much more.


Opening of School in Norashenik Village
        Per GGSCA’s request, the Armenian Educational Foundation completely renovated and furnished the school in the village of Norashenik in order to provide education in a better environment for the children in that area.. In September of 2006, the representatives of AEF and GGSCA, along with villagers attended the opening ceremony.


Partial Renovation and Opening of Pre-school No.8
        In September of 2006, the renovated classrooms, kitchen, reception area, and bathroom were officially opened through the generous donation of Mr. and Mrs. Kahren Beniassians.


Adventist Medical Center Delegation’s Visit to Ghapan
        In September of 2006, representatives from the Glendale Adventist Medical Center visited Ghapan to familiarize themselves with the current medical condition of Ghapan Hospital. The goal of this trip was to explore different options of how to better enhance the current situation and what interventions are needed to help the expansion of the medical field in Ghapan.


Ghapan Mayor Visits Glendale
        In June of 2006, Ghapan’s Mayor, Mr. Armen Karapetyan, visited Glendale for two weeks. During his reciprocal visit, he visited different public institutions and community organizations, such as City Hall, Glendale Unified School District, Glendale Community College, local hospital, libraries and educational institutions. This visit gave him the opportunity to learn about the different levels of operations in the city of Glendale and served as a mean to exchange ideas regarding betterment and further strengthening the bonds between the two cities.


Donation of Beds and Mattresses to Ghapan Hospital
        Due to the courteous donation of Dr. and Mrs. Vartkes and Mary Najarian, the Ghapan hospital received 30 manual hospital beds, mattresses and two gurneys in July of 2005.


Donation of Fire Paramedic
        In May of 2005, the Glendale Fire Department donated a paramedic. Currently the paramedic is under operation in Ghapan and serves as a transportation vehicle between Ghapan hospital and Yerevan hospital in emergency cases.


Donation of Beddings and Linens for Ghapan Pre-schools
        With the proceeds of a concert organized by GGSCA in Glendale, the vision impaired and handicapped society in Ghapan was employed to provide bed-sheets, pillow covers and blankets to 1200 pre-school aged children, among the 14 pre-schools of Ghapan and uniforms to all staff in September of 2005.


First Annual Gift Drive
        In March 2005, gifts were distributed to 1200 pre-school children between the ages of 2 and 7 years old in 14 pre-schools in the city of Ghapan. Gifts such as backpacks, school supplies, and toys were given to the children.


Renovation of Student Body Classroom
        In March of 2004, the Armenian students from the Glendale Unified School District organized an event called “Hye Hopes,” where all the proceeds went to renovate a student body classroom and a restroom in Pre-school No. 10 and one restroom in Pre-school No. 8.


Renovation and Re-opening of Architectural University’s Library
        The Glendale Community College Armenian Student Association organized a fundraising event which made possible the renewal and the re-opening of scholarly library. A group of students from GCC attended the opening ceremony in the Summer of 2004.


Inaugural Visit to Sister City and Delivery of 50 Computers
        In October of 2003, a delegation of City officials and community leaders visited the sister city of Ghapan to establish formal ties and strengthen the bond between the two cities. Delegation members familiarized themselves with the current condition and needs of the city and explored ways of cooperation.
